I downloaded a zippo file and when the download finished I meant to click on "Show in Explorer" but accidentally clicked on "Always Open files of this type".
How exercise I undo that pick?
All that my web search shows is how to disassociate the filetype, but I want to open the zip from Explorer by double clicking on information technology. I merely don't want the download cipher file to be automatically opened. Perchance I merely want the goose egg file to put on a thumb drive to use on an offline PC, or share the nix file with a colleague.

You wont open up oa zip in explorer. Information technology needs an associated program on your computer, defended to opening zip files.

Commonly a right click and open up with and a listing of potential apps volition exist listed, click on show more to testify more apps!. As Dave said, y'all should have a zip app installed if you want to manage cypher files!!. PeaZip, 7Zip etc.

, but I want to open the nada from Explorer by double clicking on it.
By default you can't practice that....you have to excerpt the file completely first then it will open up with a double click.
Yous wont open up oa nix in explorer.
I do that all the time. Never an issue. When I download a zip file, i have it go to my downloads binder in file explorer. From in that location I extract the file and then run said file.

Yous are all missing the signal.
I downloaded a zip file
I meant to click on "Testify in folder" simply accidentally clicked on "Always open up files of this type".
The zip file is extracted and opened in explorer.
I exercise not desire it to "Automatically open up files of this blazon" when I download zero files.
In the past I e'er clicked on "show downloaded file in Explorer" and then move the zip to the binder I wanted it in, right-click and "Extract all".
I do not want information technology to "Automatically open files of this blazon" when I download zip files.
How do I plow this choice off?

I certainly missed the point! Sorry. I was thinking, for unknown reasons, Net explorer and not windows explorer! Windows now has a built in "Unzipper" as Bassfisher states.

Perhaps if you lot insert the double click option instead of unmarried?
Windows explorer - view - Options (over on the right) -Alter binder and view ..
elect the double click
Might help.
By the way. What build of the Windows OS , or browser, are you using? I don't have an pick "Prove in Explorer"

Hi Dave,
Steve said he wanted to open it in File Explorer and then all he has to do is select that selection after correct clicking I would think?.

My weird reasoning cool:
) is that he may have information technology set on only ane click. If he double clicks, he may be downloading and opening information technology at the aforementioned time

is that he may accept it assault only ane click. If he double clicks, he may be downloading and opening it at the same fourth dimension
That is possible Dave, if the OP wants to open simply in File Explorer, he only needs to do what I suggested higher up in mail #7, either take the tick out or select open with File Explorer by default!.

I really appreciate that you guys want to help, simply you are all going off in wildly different directions.
Perhaps it's my fault for leaving out an important detail. I am using the Chrome browser.
When yous download a .goose egg file in Chrome, it shows in a recently downloaded bar at the bottom of the browser. When you right-click on the zip file in this bar, yous are given the pick of "show in folder" or "always open files of this blazon". I accidentally clicked on "always open files of this type". This is what I desire to disengage.
Equally I write this, I am realizing that this is a Chrome problem, not a Windows problem.

Thanks, Steve. I am not a Chrome user, but you explanation will open the helpers for better input.
Fwiw, I asked in my mail (#8), what browser you were using.

Hi Steve,
y'all are talking about Google Chrome and not the new Edge browser based on Chrome?. Have you looked in settings?, the only option I tin find in Border browser that would help is the reset part. That at least would wipe any changes yous fabricated to the browser and then back up your favs first before yous offset!.
